Rice in the rice cooker - Instructions
Regardless of whether you prepare the rice in a conventional saucepan or in a special rice cooker, both apply: the rice should be soaked before cooking.
- Soaking rice is important for your health. This is especially true if rice is on your menu frequently. In addition to pesticides, studies have also shown arsenic in rice. The plants absorb the toxins, among other things, from contaminated groundwater.
- So that the toxins are washed out, it is advisable to soak the rice overnight. Shortly before preparation, rinse the rice thoroughly under running water. Once the water is clear, the rice can go into the rice cooker.
- How much water the rice cooker is filled with depends not only on the rice cooker used, but also on the type of rice and the amount. You will find detailed information in this regard in the operating instructions for the rice cooker and on the rice pack.
- The rule of thumb is: there is 1.5 to 2 times the amount of water on a portion of rice. You need a little more water for whole grain rice. Don't forget to add a pinch of salt. If you want to add a little more spice to the rice, add a little lemon grass or healthy ginger, for example.
- Once you have switched on the rice cooker, do not open the pot anymore. Otherwise the steam will escape and the cooking result will be affected. The cooking time is approximately 20 to 30 minutes and depends mainly on the type of rice.
- The rice cooker uses a signal to signal when the rice is ready and usually switches itself off.
