Remote desktop connection has stopped working. What to do?
If the remote desktop connection stops working, the best thing to do is to deactivate your firewall:
- Log on to your computer as an administrator or as a user with administrator rights.
- With ping.google.com you can now test whether there is an IP address outside the server. If this works and Ping responds, it may be that a firewall or certain service is blocking the remote desktop connection.
- Now enter "netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off" as a prompt. How to disable the firewall.
- After the firewall is disabled, test whether the remote desktop connection is working again.
