Film properly with the action cam - tips

When filming with an action cam, these tips will give you even more impressive and better shots. We show you what you should consider.
1. Filming with the action cam: the bracket
The brackets are essential when filming with the action cam. Without good and versatile attachments, you won't get impressive shots. You should note the following points for the holders for action cams.
- So that the action cam doesn't wobble at high speeds or jerky movements, it is important that it is securely attached. The following applies: The closer the camera is to the stop, the less it shakes.
- A big problem with the brackets is the material. These are usually made of plastic. In order to hold the camera at the right angle, even with high demands, it is recommended to use brackets with teeth. You can stabilize the bracket with armored tape. But be careful: Panzer-Tape develops enormous adhesive forces - not every coating can withstand the force.
- Note: To be on the safe side and not to lose the action cam, you should additionally secure the bracket or camera with a safety rope.
2. Find interesting perspectives
An action cam is small, light and often also waterproof - this opens up completely new camera perspectives.
- For example, when skiing: the action cam on the helmet is a classic. But also try out new perspectives, such as on the ski pole or on skis.
- If you attach the action cam to the ski, you can not only take advantage of the first-person perspective, but also turn the camera and film your passengers. In this way you create new perspectives and develop atmosphere.
- You can find out which GoPro mount you should use when skiing in this video.
3. Plan your recordings
As with film and television production, it is important that you plan your recordings. Take a look at the surroundings, the mounting options of the action cam or bring impressive landscape photos into the film.
- Tip: As with the GoPro, some cameras can be connected to the smartphone via WiFi. This allows you to test the camera's viewing angle and align it better.
- For recordings lasting several days, you should sift through the material in between. This way you can see whether the camera is really recording what you want to see on the film.
4. Small tip for post-processing
So that you don't have to go through the "post production" process afterwards, you should avoid taking a picture in one go. If you divide your recording into shorter clips, you can quickly find possible key points later.
