Remove red cast from photos - how it works
If a photo has a red cast, it looks too warm and unnatural. However, you can easily remove this color cast on the computer and thus restore the image perfectly. We show which tool works particularly well.
Simply remove the red cast in the photo with GIMP
The free GIMP program is recommended for small, but also more demanding, edits. You can easily remove color casts with this.
- Download GIMP from our download area and install it on your computer.
- Open the affected image in GIMP. This works via "File"> "Open".
- Go to "Colors"> "Values" in the top menu bar to open the appropriate settings window.
- In the "Channel" selection field, set "Red".
- Now move the middle arrow to the right (see screenshot) in the "Source values" field to reduce the luminosity of red in the image.
- If you are satisfied with the result, click "OK" and the changes will be applied.
