Start the router with a new IP address

For test purposes or if services refuse to download, you can change the active IP address for Internet access and start the router with a new IP. With a little freeware it works without having to disconnect the router from the mains.
Restart internet connection with "Router Reconnect"
If your router supports UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), you can usually do this quickly with the small freeware »Router Reconnect«. This saves you having to search for the router's power switch to disconnect it from the power supply for a few seconds to restart.
- First unzip the ZIP archive. Type »cmd« in the search field of the start menu and open the command line.
- Then navigate to the program folder just created and start »Router-Reconnect.exe«. Check the output messages. If the program works with your router, you will see a note about the detected router and its restart. Then you can set up a link to the program file for later use.
Compatibility issues with some routers
The tool does not work with all routers. It can then happen that the LAN connection in the system is deactivated instead of the router restart and a connection is no longer possible.
- In this case, click on "Network and Internet" in the Control Panel and then on "Network and Sharing Center". Follow the link "Change adapter settings".
- Then right-click on the interrupted LAN connection and select the context command »Activate«. After that, Internet access works again, but you cannot use the tool for your router.
