Excel has a quick and, above all, simple solution for rounding numerical values. This can be helpful if, for example, you want a better overview of the amounts of cents in your documents.
Rounding in Excel with a simple formula
In Excel, the function "= ROUND (number; number_digits)" rounds a number to the specified decimal places.
- When rounding to one decimal place, click in the desired field in your Excel table and enter, for example, the formula "= ROUND (3.75; 1)" for the number 3.75 and confirm with the Enter key. The value rounded to one decimal place of 3.8 now appears in the field.
- If you want to round a number to two decimal places after the comma, the formula "= ROUND (3, 465; 2)" applies. Confirm this again with the Enter key and see the result 3.47. The whole thing also works with negative numbers.
- If you want to round a number to a decimal place to the left of the decimal point, this works with the formula "= ROUND (number; -1)".
- If the part "number_digits" in your formula corresponds to the value 0, then your numerical value is always rounded to the nearest integer value.
