Rust: The 5 best tips for survival
The survival game Rust draws millions of players under its spell. We will show you the best tips for your perfect start into the struggle for survival.
1. The first hut
- To build your first hut, you mainly need wood: You will find this on every tree and on separate piles of wood. With an ax, wood is broken down much faster. The best thing to do when you are looking for wood is to concentrate on the wood piles, since you can collect a lot more wood in a shorter amount of time.
- To build the first walls, you first have to craft wooden planks from the wood you have collected. Since you need 10 pieces of wood for a wooden plank, the amount of wood you collect will quickly decrease.
- If you have collected and crafted enough wooden planks, you can build your hut: Set a "Wood Foundation" for the floor. Before you can put walls, you have to put "Wood Pillars" on the corners. Warning: Plan your house in advance if possible, because unlike in Minecraft, you cannot (yet) remove objects that have been placed.
2. Lock the hut
- You can use a lockable door to prevent other players from entering your hut. This way, you can keep various objects in your hut - and leave the game without worrying, as they are difficult to attack in your house. While a wooden door can still be destroyed with an ax (120 hits), the other players need grenades to blow up an iron door.
- If you play Rust together with other players, you can set a common door password and thus share a hut. Press the "E" key to set a password for a door.
3. Hunting animals
- In order not to starve in the game, you need to eat roasted meat. You get this from all animals that populate the world of Rust. At the beginning it is advisable to hunt pigs - they are slow and have no resistance. You can also easily kill a pig with a stone. When hunting deer, you should wait after sneaking until the animal has calmed down and stopped. Because deer are faster than players, chasing doesn't work here.
- With a bow you can go hunting much easier: With the selected bow and a few arrows in the inventory, a deer is killed after only two hits. After a little target practice, the ranged weapon can hunt much more effectively than a hand weapon.
4. Crafting objects
- Crafting - making objects - is an essential element of Rust's game. With a crafting table, you not only have more choice of objects. If you are in the vicinity of one of these, the crafting process will also speed up. It is therefore worthwhile to set up a crafting table in your own hut - the time saving when producing objects is enormous.
- Caution when crafting in the wild: During the creation of an object, the player's freedom of movement is significantly restricted. If you are attacked, you cannot run away while crafting.
5. The sleeping bag to respawn
- One of the first things you should make after building your hut is a sleeping bag. With 15 pieces of fur, this is not too expensive either. If you die in the game, land where your sleeping bag is - preferably in your own cabin.
- Unfortunately, when you die, you lose all of your items from the inventory. So it is worth storing important items in boxes in your cabin. If you know where you died you can try to reach the place quickly after the respawn. For a short time you can get your items back from the inventory.
