Rust: The most important server commands
For the online survival game Rust there are already some server commands in the early access phase. Here we show you the important ingame commands that you can use as a player, as well as an administrator or moderator of a server. You can enter all commands in the console directly in the game. You can call this up with the [F1] key.
Rust server commands: The most important server variables
As an administrator on a game server, you will also have some administrative tasks in addition to the fun. Especially with a higher number of players, these server variables can help you to keep an overview.
- You can use the "admin.mutevoice" and "admin.mutechat" commands to mute both voice chat and normal chat. You can unmute with the commands "admin.unmutevoice" and "admin.unmutechat".
- You can also deactivate the chat for your server. To do this, use the "chat.enabled" command and the "false" attribute. With the attribute "true" you can reactivate the chat.
- When it comes to replacing valuable items, you can significantly shorten the manufacturing process by entering "craft.instant" with the attribute "true". In order to guarantee the greatest possible fun, you should definitely set this value back to the default value "false".
- You can also influence the time on your server. The year, month, day and time of day can be changed with simple commands. For example, use "env.year 2000" to move the game server to the year 2000. Months ("env.month") and days ("env.day") are influenced in the same way. You set the time with "env.time". Enter the hour as a number as an attribute. A little tip: From 6 it gets light.
- You can also change some server settings such as the description or the banner from the game. For the description write "server.description" and then enter the desired text. The image that is shown in the description should be 512x256 pixels in size and is specified with "server.headerimage" and the URL for the image.
Rust Server commands: The most important admin commands
In addition to the variables that apply globally to the server, a distinction is also made between the admin commands, which can help you to fulfill your tasks as administrator on a rust server. We show you the most important commands.
- The most important thing in a community is always communication. To be noticed as an administrator, you can send server messages with the "chat.say" command.
- With the command "ban" and the corresponding name of the player you can ban players who violate your rules from your server. Rust only needs the first few letters of the name if he can clearly choose a player. After entering the name, you can specify a reason for the decision. If the selection of the player is not clear, you can also banish the player via his Steam ID with the command "banid" and the ID. With the command "banlistex" you get a list of all banished players together with the reasons and username.
- The "kick" command can be used to throw a player off the server, similar to the ban command. The latter can then directly participate in the game again.
- If you want to get reinforcements for your server as administrator, you can use the "moderatorid" command and the player's Steam ID to set a moderator. You can also appoint a co-administrator using the "ownerid" command and the Steam ID. You should only give these rights to the closest confidants! The respective player then has as much power as you.
- As an administrator, it is also important to get from A to B quickly. For this there is the teleport function in RUST. You can teleport to a player with "teleport" and the corresponding ID or player name, or you can have the respective player seated with "teleport2me".
- You can assign items directly using the "inventory.give" command, specifying the player and the object to be given (and its quantity).
- You can influence the weather in Rust via "weather.clouds", "weather.fog", "weather.rain" and "weather.rain".
- You can also manage the server in-game. For example, you can save the current status of the server with "server.save". With "restart" you can restart the server with a warning time of 60 seconds. "server.stop" stops the server immediately.
Rust Server commands: commands for the player
Even as a player, there are some useful commands that you can execute.
- You can deactivate the display of the primary gender characteristics of your teammates with "censornudity" and the corresponding attribute "true" or enable the display with "false".
- "perf 1" displays your current FPS number at the bottom left of the screen. with "perf 0" you can hide them again.
- You can choose the easy way out and put an end to yourself in the game with "kill". You will then either wake up at your place of sleep or, if you do not have a place to sleep, at random on the map.
- With the command "players" you get a list of all currently connected players.
