Safari: Blocked Flash Plugin - how to fix the problem
No videos, browser games or animated elements: A blocked Flash plugin in Safari ensures that almost nothing works. You can reactivate the Flash player with just a few clicks. We show you how it works.
Update blocked Flash plugin in Safari
An outdated flash plugin poses a high security risk. Therefore Safari blocks the extension automatically. To be able to use the Flash player again, you have to update the plugin yourself:
- Click on the message to go to the download page of the flash player.
- Download the latest version and run the setup. You should close Safari completely before installing.
Update the Flash plugin on outdated Macs
Current versions of Flash usually require the latest version of the Safari browser. You can update it yourself at any time.
- But the new browser versions no longer run on every Mac. If you still have an old Apple computer, you should consider switching.
- Alternatively, you can also use another browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome. They also warn you about the outdated plugin, but do not block the Flash player completely.
Many websites now also support the new HTML5 standard. This allows you to watch YouTube videos without a Flash player, for example.
