Restart Samba server - how it works
If you want to apply changes to the Samba server or if the server has problems, you can restart it at any time. We'll show you how it's done.
Instructions: Restart Samba-Sever
- Changes to the configuration file are automatically recorded by the Samba server every 90 seconds. You can use the "sudo service smbd restart" command to restart the device directly.
- If you use older versions of Ubuntu and Co., other commands are necessary. Try here with "sudo /etc/init.d/smbd restart" and "sudo initctl restart smbd".
- As an alternative to restarting, you can also stop the Samba server and start it manually. To do this, use the "sudo service smbd start" command and then "sudo service smbd stop".
In the next practical tip, we will show you an overview of the most important Linux commands for the terminal.
