Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs. Note 4 - the differences
With the Galaxy Note 4, Samsung is launching the successor to the Galaxy Note 3. We compare the two models and show which smartphone can score with which attributes.
The hardware: Galaxy Note 3 vs. Grade 4
The Galaxy Note 4 is the official successor of the Note 3. Accordingly, the Note 4 technically has the advantages on its side in most areas. However, the differences are not always so great that a changeover is actually worthwhile for everyone.
- Processor: A Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 works in the Note 3, which is clocked at 2.3 GHz. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 with 2.7 GHz is installed in the Galaxy Note 4. Both processors have four cores.
- RAM: In both Note models, 3 GB of RAM ensure fast performance.
- Case: Note 3 and Note 4 are made of aluminum, polycarbonate and have a gorilla glass display. The Galaxy Note 3 weighs 168 grams. The Note 4 is a bit heavier at 176 grams.
- Memory: Both Note models have 32 GB of internal memory and can be expanded by up to 64 GB with microSD memory cards.
- Battery: The Li-Ion battery of the Galaxy Note 3 is 3, 200 mAh strong, that of the Note 4 is 3, 220 mAh slightly better.
- Display: The 5.7-inch Super-AMOLED HD display from the Note 3 has a resolution of 1, 080 x 1, 920 pixels. The Note 4's Quad HD Super AMOLED of the same size has a resolution of 1, 440 x 2, 560 pixels. The pixel density of the Note 3 is 386 ppi. The rating of 4 is significantly higher at 515 ppi.
- Camera: The Galaxy Note 3 is equipped with a 13 megapixel camera. The Galaxy Note 4 has a 15.8 megapixel camera on board and thus wins the camera comparison. For selfie lovers: the front camera of the Note 3 has a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels, that of the Note 4 has a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels.
- Colors: The Galaxy Note 3 is available in gray, white and pink. The Note 4 is available in black, white, bronze-gold and pink.
Which Galaxy Note model to buy?
The decision should ultimately be made individually. The Galaxy Note 4 is newer and therefore has better technology installed. The differences are not great in all areas. The Note 4 scores especially in the areas of display and camera. The rest of the data are very similar.
