Samsung Galaxy: Use S-Beam correctly
The Galaxy S devices from the S3 use Samsung's own data transmission technology S-Beam, which is based on NFC. We'll show you how to share pictures, videos and music in just a few steps.
S-Beam - it's so easy to send data
The basic prerequisite for successful data transmission with S-Beam are two capable devices from the Galaxy S family from Samsung. It is also important to activate the desired function first.
- To do this, switch to the settings menu of your smartphone and select the switch at "S Beam" in the "Connections" tab.
- If this glows green, nothing stands in the way of the exchange.
Data transmission via S-Beam - back to back is faster
If the feature is activated, music data, videos, contacts, apps (in the Google Play Store), pictures and even web links can be easily shared.
- To do this, open the desired file, for example an image in the gallery app or a video clip.
- While the display is showing, place both devices back to back and wait for a short tone.
- Then the devices are connected: Now place both in the immediate vicinity next to each other, the data will be transferred automatically.
If you use covers such as leather cases or smartphone bumpers, you have to expect that S-Beam will occasionally fail to work. However, the feature usually works even if a thin obstacle separates the devices. If you want to send data to other smartphone manufacturers via NFC, you can also use Android Beam.
