Samsung Galaxy S4: move pictures to the SD card
By default, the Samsung Galaxy S4 stores images on the internal memory. Learn how to move your photos to an SD card here.
How to move your picture gallery to your SD card
Android has the great advantage over the iOS world that you can expand the internal memory with SD cards as you like - this also applies to your Samsung Galaxy S4. Unfortunately, however, this is not easy. Because you first have to click through all sorts of menus to find the appropriate setting options.
- First navigate to the "File Manager".
- Select the "System Storage".
- Open the "Images" submenu.
- Finally, select "Move DCIM to SD". This is the folder in which the camera stores all the pictures and videos you have taken on your smartphone. Unless you change the storage location to your new SD memory card as described in the next step.
How to save newly taken photos and films directly to your SD card
Your phone is smart, but you first have to tell it where to save new photos. Here's how it works with the Samsug Galaxy S4:
- Start your "Camera" app supplied by Samsung by clicking on the camera icon.
- In the camera app, press the gear on the top left to open the settings.
- Scroll all the way down in the Settings menu. There you select the penultimate option "Storage". Here you can choose where your images will be saved from now on. The choices are "phone" or "memory card".
- However, the "Memory card" option only appears if you have already installed a memory card.
