You should make a backup of your data before the repair. Please note that all operations on your device are at your own risk.
- You need the appropriate tools and a new display for the repair.
- Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S5. Remove the battery cover on the back of the smartphone and remove the battery.
- Remove the three Phillips screws circled in red.
- Next remove the plastic cover (red arrow). You can then unclip the connector for the finger scan sensor.
Samsung Galaxy S5: Remove the display
When you have removed all screws, you can start loosening the display unit.
- Gently heat the edge with a blow dryer. However, do not overheat it. You can better remove the display unit from the frame. You can then use a suction cup and plectrum to go between the glass and frame and lift the display.
- You can now unclip the display connector and slowly lift off the display unit. Make sure that you do not damage the flex cable for the fingerprint scanner on the home button.
- The display unit is now removed. You can reinstall the new display in reverse order.
