Samsung Galaxy S5: the best custom ROMs
The Samsung flagship Galaxy S5 has been on the market for a few months - since then a few custom ROMs have been developed. We show you the most attractive:
XtreStoLite ROM - The lightweight based on Samsung
- Info: This custom ROM is based on the original Galaxy S5 firmware from Samsung and is designed to run as stable as possible.
- Features: Many of the superfluous Samsung apps are no longer installed from the start, so your Galaxy S5 runs even faster. If necessary, these can be installed separately with an add-on package.
- Target group: If you want a fast, slim and stable ROM, you are on the safe side with XtreStoLite ROM.
OmegaROM firmware with its own kernel
- Info: OmegaROM goes one step further, although it is also based on stock firmware, it has been supplemented with its own kernel. The Omega kernel, for example, brings various governors and has the CPU frequencies set manually.
- Features: Many apps are modded or replaced, which, for example, improve the performance of the camera or fix annoying functions in the SMS app.
- Target group: CarbonROM is for everyone who wants to compromise on stability and functional improvements.
AllianceROM - countless customization options
- Info: AllianceROM is also stock-based, but focuses on making the system as completely customizable as possible.
- Features: Here you can change any color, icon and other design feature as you like. In addition, numerous small mods are built in, such as a possible double or triple assignment of the home button or the completely free adjustment of the power menu.
- Target group: This ROM is suitable for you if you want to deal with the smallest design feature of your Galaxy S5 and also risk that the device may not run completely stable and smoothly due to the numerous changes.
CyanogenMod 11 for the Galaxy S5
- The free Android version Cyanogenmod is now also running on the Samsung flagship. Read here what the advantages of cyanogen mod are.
- Since Samsung does not release all software sources, the ROM still has to fight a few bugs. In the meantime, the camera and everything else is working too, the developers are still struggling with the NFC chip.
- If you want to completely get rid of Samsung's TouchWiz interface, CyanogenMod is the right choice. With the powerful hardware of the Galaxy S5, you get a smooth operating system that is more reminiscent of Google Android.
We show you here how you can still delete Samsung apps on the unmodded system.
