Samsung Galaxy S5: set up fingerprint scanner - how it works
After the iPhone 5S, the Samsung Galaxy S5 now also uses a fingerprint scanner. We'll show you how to set up the feature - and even for up to three people.
How to set up the fingerprint scanner on the Samsung Galaxy S5
While setting up the fingerprint scanner, you should hold the device as you will use it in everyday life. Tip: Use both hands for this. You have to press the home button first and get the smartphone out of sleep mode.
- Open the app menu of the Samsung smartphone from the homescreen.
- Now select the "Settings" option.
- Tap on the "Fingerprint scanner" subitem.
- Then navigate to the "Fingerprint Manager" entry.
- Now the Samsung Galaxy S5 starts a wizard with which you can register your fingerprint on the smartphone.
- To do this, you have to drag your finger steadily, but not too quickly, over the lower screen. Drive from top to bottom until you reach the home button. The dots show you the scan area.
- You must repeat this setup process eight times in total.
- Finally, you set a master password. You can also use it to unlock your smartphone.
- In the end, you decide whether you only want to biometrically unlock the display with your fingerprint or even your entire Samsung account.
- By the way, your fingerprint on the Samsung Galaxy S5 can also be used to secure your PayPal account.
