Samsung Galaxy S5 no longer works - what to do?
As with all smartphones, it can also happen with the Samsung Galaxy S5 that the device no longer comes on and the screen remains black. Most of the time you don't have to have it repaired. Before doing this, you should try different solutions.
Galaxy S5 no longer works: deep discharge?
The cell phone may be deeply discharged. In this case, brief charging does not help.
- Remove the battery and charging cable and wait a few minutes.
- Put the battery back in and connect the charging cable.
- Let the device charge up to three hours. It should switch on again by itself at the latest.
- If not, try to turn on the smartphone manually.
Galaxy S5: Check the battery and charging cable
A defective battery or a broken charging cable can be responsible for the problem.
- If possible, try a different battery. If there is no Galaxy S5 battery available in your area, you can go to a mobile phone store and ask for help.
- The same applies to the charging cable: test another cable or try your cable on another device to rule out a defect in the cable.
- So that the battery of your Galaxy S5 lasts longer, you should always charge it correctly.
S5 does not come on: Reset device
If the problem cannot be solved with the steps described, you should reset the Galaxy S5 to factory settings:
- Simultaneously press the volume up button, the on / off button and the home button and hold them until a menu appears on the screen.
- Navigate to the entry "wipe data / factory reset" with the volume down button and confirm with the on / off button.
- You can also confirm the warning with the on / off button. Caution: During this process, all your personal data on the smartphone will be deleted.
- The process takes a few minutes and the Galaxy S5 will then restart automatically.
