Setting up Samsung Galaxy S6: getting started
If you are the proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S6, this practical tip shows you the first steps to set up your smartphone.
First steps to set up the Samsung Galaxy S6
When setting up your new Galaxy S6, you first have to insert the SIM card and set all the basic options for operating the smartphone.
- Insert your SIM card and press the on / off button of the Samsung smartphone. When the Galaxy S6 is started for the first time, the configuration wizard loads.
- First select the language and confirm the selection with the Next button.
- In the next screen, select your WiFi network. To establish a connection, you must enter the password.
- With a tip on "Next" you get to the terms and conditions. You have to accept this in order to use the smartphone. If you do not want to send diagnostic data, remove the check mark in front of the relevant item.
- If you have accepted the terms and conditions, you will be asked on the next screen whether you want to transfer Google accounts, apps or other data from your previous Android device via NFC. The transfer is quite simple. The other device must be turned on and unlocked. Now you have to hold the backs of the two devices briefly together until you hear a tone. If you do not want to transfer any accounts or data, you can skip this point.
- Next, you will be asked to log in with your Google address and then enter the password.
- If you are successfully registered, the payment information will follow. Here you can either specify a payment method or choose "Remind me later".
- On the next screen, set your time zone and adjust the date and time if necessary.
- You will now be asked whether you want to use certain services such as storing apps or passwords or the location service. Set or remove the corresponding checkmarks according to your wishes.
- The next screen looks at the Samsung account. If you already have an account, you can log in here. You can also create a new one or skip this point. Without the account, you cannot use the Samsung backup program, among other things.
- Now you can set an activation command. You can then use it to start apps or call contacts. If you do not want to use S-Voice, skip this point.
- The fingerprint follows. If you set up the device for this, you can later simply unlock the smartphone with your fingerprint. Like the activation command, you can also set up the fingerprint later.
- Finally, you can specify whether you prefer to use the smartphone in "simple mode". All you have to do is operate the slider.
- Click "Finish", your Samsung Galaxy S6 is set up and ready to use.
