Invalid IMEI on Samsung Galaxy S6 software update
First of all, you should check whether a software update is available:
- Open the "Settings" on your smartphone and switch to "Via phone".
- Here you have to search for available updates under "Software Update"> "Update".
- A pop-up should appear. With "Download" you download the update. Wait for the download to finish.
- Then restart your smartphone and then open the "Settings" again.
IMEI invalid on Galaxy S6 - restore IMEI
- First download the freeware Odin and install it on your PC.
- Then you need the "EFS Restorer Express". You can find the tool via Google at the XDA developers.
- In the "Developer Options" on your Galaxy S6, you must now activate the "USB Debugging" option. After installing the tools, connect it to your PC.
- Now open Odin and double click on the file "EFS-Backup.bat". More information about Odin can be found here.
- Now you need to choose a method to recover EFS with Odin.
- After the process you should restart the smartphone. You can then use the telephone code "* # 06 #" to check whether a valid IMEI is available.
