Samsung Galaxy: voice memo as ringtone - how it works
Voice memos recorded with the Samsung Galaxy can easily be set as a ringtone. In this tip, you can read how this works with the Galaxy S4 and other Galaxy smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy: voice memo as ringtone - that's how it works on the S4
The feature works quite easily with the Galaxy S4 directly via the voice memo app. If you don't have a Galaxy S4 or an older version of Android, you can jump straight to the second paragraph.
- First open the "dictation machine" app from Samsung and record a memo. The app is preinstalled on every Galaxy.
- Then tap the arrow at the bottom right to view your recorded voice memos.
- Tap and hold your finger on the voice memo that you want to set as the ringtone for about two seconds.
- Now the "Settings" appear, in which you have to select "Set as".
- Now tap on "Phone ringtone": The voice memo has now been set as the default ringtone.
Universal tip: This is how it works on every Galaxy smartphone
If you have a Galaxy Ace or a Galaxy Phone with Android 2.X, you cannot set your voice memos as a ringtone via the "Voice Memo" app. You have to do the following:
- Open the app menu and tap "My Documents".
- Now go to the "Sounds" folder. Your voice memos are displayed here. By default these are called "SprachememoXXX.
- Tap on the voice memo and keep your finger pressed: After about two seconds a new window will appear. Now you have to tap on "Move".
- You can now choose the new location for the file. To do this, scroll down and open the "media" folder.
- Now press "Create folder" at the top and name the folder "Ringtones" (without quotation marks).
- Now tap on the "Ringtones" folder and then on "Move here" at the bottom left. The media scanner now carries out an update: The voice memo is added to the ringtone list.
- Now you only have to select your voice memo via "Menu"> "Settings"> "Sound"> "Phone ringtone" and confirm with "OK".
