You can also use the picture-in-picture function with a Samsung Smart TV. We show you how to do this in this article.
Samsung Smart TV: picture in picture - is that possible?
That's fine. In order to use the picture-in-picture function, your Samsung Smart TV needs two tuners. However, very few devices have two tuners.
- In addition to the integrated tuner, you can connect a DVB-S or DVB-T tuner. Maybe there is also a satellite, cable or IPTV receiver hidden in your basement or you are already using an external receiver instead of the internal one.
- If, for example, you have connected your computer to your Smart TV and use it as a monitor, the picture-in-picture function is possible without any problems. In this case, the integrated tuner is sufficient so that you can surf and watch TV on the side.
Samsung Smart TV: This is picture-in-picture
To use the function, you must either have two receivers connected or connect your Smart TV to your computer via HDMI or VGA:
- Pick up the remote control and turn on the image that you want to appear primarily on the screen.
- Now find the "Tools" button on the remote control. It is usually located in the center left above the arrow keys (see picture). On some models, the button can also be labeled with "Extras".
- Then select the "PiP" category from the menu. The abbreviation "PiP" stands for Picture in Picture and is therefore the English name for picture in picture.
- If you set PiP to "On", the second image appears in the top right. If the picture is black, change the source under "Transmitter".
- You can then determine the size and position of the image and decide on the source of the sound.
- To deactivate the function again, simply set PiP to "Off" again. If you want to swap the small and the large picture, you simply have to repeat the instructions from step 1.
