You can edit the channel list of a Samsung TV - if with a little effort. Because who doesn't know it: You bought a new TV, set it up and already carried out the automatic station search. But then the big search begins. Your favorite channels are hidden in the middle of the channel list. But that can be changed - the how? we explain using the example of a TV series 6 (LE40C630).
Create your own channel list on your Samsung TV
With self-created channel lists, you have an overview of the stations that you really need. There are four lists for your own channels. By default they are called "Own channel 1" to "Own channel 4" and unfortunately cannot be renamed. You can add your favorite channels to these lists.
- Once you have selected the station using the program selection buttons, press the >> Tools <> Edit own channels << button.
- You will now see the available lists (see picture) to which you can add the station. Use the cursor keys on the remote control to select the desired list and tick the Enter key. Confirm your choice with the >> Return << button.
Creating the channel lists with the channel manager of the Samsung SmartTV
You can also use the channel manager of the Samsung TV to create or edit the individual program lists.
- Press the menu button on the remote control. Use the cursor keys to navigate to the "Sender" entry and use the right cursor key to go to the submenu. Now select the >> Channel Manager <<.
- There you can see the channel list from which the currently displayed channel comes. To add a station from the overall channel list to a favorites list, use the navigation buttons to move the cursor to the top symbol with the satellite dish and search for the desired station.
- If the cursor is on the correct channel, open it with the >> Tools <> Edit own channels << button. The menu that appears is the same as in step two of the first section.
- You can also assign multiple lists to the sender, or alternatively delete it from a list by removing the check mark.
Sort channels in program lists
You can also sort the channels in the program lists using the channel manager of the Samsung TV. If you have created your own channel lists, the stations are sorted by consecutive number. However, digital and analog channels are treated separately. In this way, the digital transmitters are always in front of the analog ones without you being able to change them.
- Navigate in the menu to >> Channel Manager << as in the first point of the second section.
- In the channel manager, move the cursor to the station in the corresponding list that you want to move.
- With the >> Tools <> channel no. Edit <> Sort <<.
- You can change the position of the selected station in the list using the cursor keys (see figure). Unfortunately, you do not see your individual list, but the complete list of analog or digital channels. The order of the entire channel list is carried over to the personalized lists.
Rename station names
In some cases you may have to rename the station name if it is not specified correctly by the cable provider. In this case, you can edit the names of the analogue channels using the channel manager on your Smart TV.
- Navigate in the menu to >> Channel Manager << as in the first point of the second section.
- Then move the cursor to the station whose name you want to change. Then press >> Tools <> Edit station name <<.
- Now you can use the cursor keys to enter a new name with up to five characters (see picture). The change is saved with the "Return" key.
