Sat receiver no longer plays sound - what to do?
If your satellite receiver no longer reproduces sound, this may be due to the device itself, the cable or the television. We'll show you how to find the problem and fix it.
No sound with the satellite receiver - the most common causes
- Connection: Depending on the device, you can connect the satellite receiver and TV via Scart, Cinch or HDMI. If possible, change the connection.
- Defect: If the connection works with another cable, the problem is either the type of transmission or the cable. If you are using an HDMI connection, connect your computer to the television to rule out a problem with the television.
- TV: If the problem is not with the satellite receiver but with the television, read the practical tip TV no longer transmits sound.
Sat receiver: Wrong sound settings
- Slightly older receivers have an HDMI connection, but cannot transmit certain sound standards.
- Change the settings of the receiver from the sound standard digital / AC3 or Dolby Digital to stereo.
- In many cases the problem is solved. You will need an additional audio cable to transmit the sound in Dolby Digital.
