Scart on DVI - how it works
With both Scart and DVI, image signals are transmitted to a television or monitor. However, you cannot simply connect the two connections. We show what you have to consider.
Scart to DVI: convert analogue to digital
The main problem lies in the type of signal that is transmitted through the two connections: The older Scart connection works analogously, DVI processes digital data.
- Accordingly, no simple adapter cable is sufficient for the transmission. You need an additional device that digitizes your image signal.
- Suitable converters are available from around 30-40 euros in the network. As a rule, these have an input for Scart and an output for the digital HDMI. Direct DVI outputs are hardly used here.
- You also need an adapter from HDMI to DVI. However, this is much more manageable and available for little money.
- You can then simply connect the adapter cable to the converter.
- Note: As a rule, the quality of such signals is only partially satisfactory. Since the Scart connection is very outdated, you should reconsider whether the corresponding investments are actually still worthwhile or whether you won't get away with a complete new purchase.
