How to protect Outlook with a password
If you want to protect your emails in Outlook against unauthorized access, you can secure them with a password.
Protect Outlook with a password
- Open Outlook and click on "Options" in the menu bar under "Tools" (see picture).
- Click on the "Data Files" button under the "E-Mail Setup" tab.
- Select your "Personal Folder" from the list and, depending on the Outlook version, click on "Settings" or double-click.
- Now click on "Change password" in the new window.
- Enter a new password and try again. The check mark in front of the option "Save this password in the password list" should be removed.
- Click the "OK" button and close all Outlook windows. The next time you start Outlook, you will be asked for a password.
