Digitize records without a PC - how it works
There are several ways to digitize your records.
- Most of the time, the music is transferred from vinyl to the PC via a USB connection. We describe this possibility of digitizing records in detail in another practical tip.
- With an appropriate device, however, it also works without a computer and cables.
- For this you need a turntable with an integrated CD recorder. The music is then burned directly from the record onto a CD.
- There are also turntables with slots for an SD card. You can then transfer the music from the record to this.
Disadvantages of record digitization
If you are thinking about digitizing your records, you should be aware of the disadvantages.
- The quality of the digitized recording depends on the quality of the turntable. However, such a device comes at a price.
- If you only want to digitize a few records, ask yourself whether the financial and time expenditure is worthwhile. You may also get your favorite music as a finished CD - this saves money and time.
- The digitalization of vinyl only makes sense with real treasures and rarities. Then you can listen to the music without wearing out the valuable record.
- If you don't want to do your own hand when digitizing, there are also ways to have your plates digitized. Googling "Let records digitized", you will find numerous providers, such as medienrettung.de. However, this is not exactly cheap either. You usually have to expect around 20 euros per record.
