Change wipers on the car - so it'll work
Once the windscreen wipers on your car have had their day, you can easily change the wipers yourself. We'll show you how it's done.
Auto: When do I have to change the wipers?
- Windshield wipers usually last for several years. The durability depends not only on how often you drive, but also on the weather the car is exposed to.
- If the wipers draw streaks on your windows, it is high time to change the wipers. If the rubber becomes brittle or torn, a change is also advisable.
- The new windshield wipers are available online as well as on site in workshops or petrol stations. When buying, make sure that the wipers match your car model.
Instructions: Change the wipers on the car
- First, take a look at the manual. On some cars, you must move the wipers to the maintenance position using the turn signal lever before removing them.
- Then you can simply fold up the wiper. It is best to place a blanket or cardboard on the lower part of the pane so that, in the worst case, the wiper arm does not snap back directly onto the pane.
- The wipers are attached to the wiper arms with a clamp or plug mechanism. This is explained on the back of the packaging.
- Remove and then reinstall the wipers according to the instructions. Then carefully put the wiper arms back on the window.
