Change the font of the Windows sticky notes
You cannot change the font initially in the Windows sticky notes. The standard font Segoe Print is really not everyone's taste, as it spreads a touch of unpopular comic sans. You can also use a trick to change this font to a more neutral font. You can also format the font in sticky notes if you wish.
How to change the font in the sticky notes
Simple, but somewhat cumbersome, you can change the typeface of the sticky notes by creating the note in any word processing program. Then use [Ctrl] + [C] to copy your text and paste it in the sticky note with [Ctrl] + [V]. If you want to use a different font permanently, proceed as follows:
- Start the Windows search with [Windows key] + [S] and enter "Fonts" (without quotation marks) as the search term. In the search results, click the "Fonts" folder.
- Find the "Segoe Print" and "Segoe Print Bold" entries within the fonts. The fastest way to do this is to type "segoe print" in the folder search field.
- Make a copy of both fonts and save the copy in any folder.
- Then delete both fonts. If you now create a sticky note, write with a more technical universal font (see screenshot).
- You can format your sticky notes in various ways, regardless of the font. With the key combination [Ctrl] + [B] your text appears bold, the key combination [Ctrl] + [U] underlines the text, while [Ctrl] + [T] crosses it out. With the combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [L] you create a list.
- If you want to return to Segoe Print at some point, simply reinstall the font. Right-clicking on the backup copy of the font opens a context menu. There you will find the "Install" command, which you simply click with the left mouse button.
Computer experts have other ways to change the font in sticky notes. They all require tampering with the computer registry. CHIP reader Felix Brummer describes one of these ways in the comments. If you want to do this, please do not forget to save the registry beforehand. The practical tip article "Backing up and restoring the Windows registry - how it works" describes exactly how to do this.
