This practical tip shows you how to install new fonts in Windows Vista.
Windows Vista: Install new fonts
There are numerous fonts available for download on the WWW. We have put together some of the most popular ones for you here. If you downloaded a font, you still have to install it. That's how it works:
- Click the Windows icon on the taskbar, and then click Control Panel. If you don't see it, just type "Control Panel" in the search box.
- If you are in the Control Panel, click on "Appearance and Personalization".
- Next click on "Fonts".
- In the menu bar click on "File" and then on "Install new font ..." (see picture). If the menu bar is not visible, press [Alt].
- Now a new window called "Add Fonts" opens. In the folder view at the bottom left, find the fonts that you downloaded earlier. Tip: To find the downloaded fonts faster, save them on the desktop.
- Once you have found the file, click on it. Then it appears in the upper field "Font list".
- Now click on "Install ..." to the right to install the selected font.
- After installation, the font is added to the other fonts that you see in the 3rd point.
