Improve Schufa Score: With these tricks it works

Improving the Schufa score and becoming more creditworthy is not that easy. Because there is a lot of information about the Schufa score that you have little or no influence on. We'll show you what's behind it and what options there are.
Improve Schufa score - is that possible?
First you should get an overview of your Schufa score.
- You can request Schufa information free of charge. We explain in another practical tip how this works.
- Compare the data. It is not uncommon for entries to be incorrect. Liabilities that have already been paid are listed for a certain period of time before they are automatically deleted. As a rule, this happens after a maximum of three years.
- But note: Entries about loans can also be positive. For example, they can provide information that you have always paid your loans. Negative while defaults.
- If you can prove that an entry in the Schufa is incorrect, it is obliged to correct it. Another practical tip shows how you can delete a Schufa entry.
- Basically, you should do everything that speaks for a high credit rating with banks and companies. This is then reflected in the Schufa score. It is hardly possible to influence him specifically by changing certain characteristics. But there are some key points that speak for a good Schufa score.
Schufa Score: A loan is good as long as it is paid on time
If you have been granted a loan, Schufa signals that the bank classifies you as trustworthy.
- Such a loan has a positive effect on the Schufa score - but only if it is repaid on time. Otherwise, the bank reports payment defaults or can cancel the loan to the customer. Then this creates negative entries.
- The situation is different with the overdraft facility of the checking account: This overdraft facility has no influence on the score value. In addition, many banks do not even report to Schufa when a customer receives a higher overdraft facility.
- Overdraft facility overdrawn? As long as the bank tolerates the overdraft and does not cancel the overdraft facility, for example, you have nothing to fear. If the bank does, it can tell Schufa - but it doesn't have to.
Don't make too many loan requests
Not only many current loans lower the Schufa score.
- Every credit request is registered with Schufa - whether it comes about or not is not so important for the credit agency. This can be a problem if, for example, you are looking for a cheap bank loan at several banks to compare the conditions.
- When Schufa receives many credit inquiries, it can appear that some of these loans have been rejected. That doesn't leave a good picture and your Schufa score drops.
- You can easily avoid this negative impact. At the bank meeting, ask for a so-called "credit conditions request". In contrast to the classic credit inquiry from Schufe, the bank only asks what your credit rating would be if you took out a loan. This request has no effect on your Schufa score.
Credit card yes, but no card collection
Anyone who owns a credit card is considered trustworthy at Schufa.
- After all, a bank showed you this trust and handed over the card.
- In order not to jeopardize this good impression, you should not only pay your credit card bills on time. You should also limit yourself to one or two credit cards.
- A "card collection" makes Schufa suspect that you have money problems. If you do not use credit cards, you should also cancel them.
Limit yourself to just a few bank accounts
Bank accounts are similar to credit cards.
- Here less is also more: One or two, possibly even three accounts should be enough - at least from Schufa's point of view.
- By the way, you should not change banks too often. For the credit agency, it looks like you want to disguise something.
- This also applies to frequent changes of residence - moving often will lower the Schufa score. Persistence inspires confidence.
Pay your commitments
Those who pay on time are at the forefront of the assessment. This does not only apply to payments by credit card:
- Pay your bills on time and avoid frequent reminders. Although these are not immediately reported to Schufa, payment delays are accumulating, and a report can also be made.
- Good payment behavior is the best argument for a high credit rating and a high Schufa score.
Protect your data
Identity theft is increasing - this can have consequences for your Schufa score.
$config[ads_text5] not found- You can behave correctly and always pay on time: if someone steals your identity and goes shopping with it without paying, your credit rating can quickly go downhill.
- Schufa itself offers protection against identity theft on its website, but this is subject to a fee. In addition to a notification service, it also includes a 24-hour hotline and support for data cleansing. If you have already been a victim of identity abuse, you can report this to Schufa free of charge. If a company queries its creditworthiness, it receives notification of identity theft and can examine new applications more closely.
- In any case, if you suspect identity theft, you should immediately contact the police and file a complaint.
