The advantage of the snipping tool: It is clear, easy to use and pre-installed. We explain how you deal with it.
- Use Mode to select the type of screenshot you want. "Free cut", "Rectangular cut", "Cut window" and "Cut full screen" are available.
- You can use delay to set when the program for the screenshot should start. This allows you to prepare the right area within up to 5 seconds before the screenshot is taken.
- As a rule, you get the best results with "Rectangular cutting", because the free selection creates irregular edges. Select the desired option and then click New .
- Now hold down the mouse button and drag over the area of the screen from which you want to take a screenshot.
- You will then see a preview of your section. Via File - Save As you can save the picture in the folder of your choice. JPEG, GIF, PNG and MHT are available as formats.
- There are alternatives, including for taking browser screenshots. In our download area we recommend Awesome Screenshot for Chrome or Easy Screenshot for Firefox. Another freeware that you can download for free from us is Greenshot. With this program you also have a few functions for editing. Still, Snipping Tool is our favorite.
