Take screenshots from Snapchat: There are these variants
In the instant messaging service "Snapchat" you can save sent information with screenshots, even if the messages are deleted within a few seconds. We explain to you which variants there are to receive received images via screenshot.
Snapchat: Variants to take screenshots
Snapchat is an instant messaging app for smartphones and tablets that allows you to send picture and video files to your contacts. The special thing about Snapchat is that the information sent can only be viewed for a limited time.
- The user decides whether an image or video file can be called up for 24 hours or only for a few seconds.
- If the time frame specified by the sender has expired, the messages from Snapchat are deleted without further ado. However, you can save photos with a screenshot.
- Note: Be aware of the information you disclose. Snapchat mainly advertises that your information will be permanently deleted. However, your personal messages can be saved during your specified time frame.
- With the following tips, you can take snapshots of all pictures in Snapchat. This applies to pictures in private chat as well as pictures from your friends' stories.
1. Snapchat screenshot with notification
Depending on the smartphone model, you can take a screenshot using a key combination. In two other articles we explain how to take a screenshot with the Android smartphone and the iPhone.
- The screenshot must be taken within the time frame specified by the sender.
- Remember that the sender of the short message with the note "x minutes ago - screenshot (1)!" Attention is drawn to the fact that you have taken a screenshot of the sent file.
2. Snapchat screenshot without notification
You can handle the screenshot notification with a little skill. But you also have to take some time for this, because an earlier tactic to screenshot the snap in flight mode no longer works.
- Unfortunately, it must be said that the following function only works for iOs. If you own an Android device, read on in the third paragraph.
- The solution is a bit complex, but it promises to take photos and videos of high quality - without the sender getting wind of it.
- Grab an iPad, Mac, or alternatively, a friend's iPhone. These will serve as new output devices.
- Connect one of these devices to your smartphone using a Lightning cable. The prerequisite is that the cable also supports data transfer.
- Open the Quick Time Player on the iPad / Mac and select "File"> "New screen capture". On the right edge of the newly opened window there is an arrow, where you have to select your iPhone as input.
- After a few seconds, the iPhone screen with Snapchat should appear. Click on the red record button to start recording. Now you can safely open and save all snaps.
3. Take Snapchat screenshots with apps
With some apps you can also take screenshots of the Snapchat history without the sender receiving a notification:
- The most used app for this purpose is "Snap Saver", which automatically takes screenshots when a message arrives.
- For many of these applications, however, you must first root your mobile device and adjust the app settings to your liking.
