Sea of Thieves does not start - so you solve the problem
With Sea of Thieves, the game may not start. Usually the problem can be fixed quickly. Below we show you what you can do to make the game work properly again.
- First check whether a Windows update is available. To do this, go to the Windows menu and type "Update", then select "Check for Windows updates".
- Install the update if one is available. The update that fixes this error is "KB4088776".
- Another option is to go to the Windows Store and first log out of all accounts except the email account with which you bought the game.
- Download any app from the store. You can then start the game from the library.
- Also try to log in with a local Windows user and then start.
- Check your firewall. Ports may be blocked and the game will not start.
- Open Powershell via the search in the Windows menu and insert the following command: Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$ ($ _. InstallLocation) \ AppXManifest.xml”}. Execute the command.
