Sea of Thieves: system requirements and release
In Sea of Thieves you set sail with friends. In this article, we reveal which system requirements PC players will face and when a release of the multiplayer game can be expected.
Sea of Thieves: Minimum system requirements officially confirmed
The pirate game Sea of Thieves will be released on March 20, 2018 for the PC and the XBOX One. While console gamers can just start playing, PC gamers should make sure that their computer meets at least the minimum system requirements of the multiplayer game before buying.
- Processor: Sea of Thieves will require at least an Intel Core i3 at 2.9 GHz or an AMD FX-6300 at 3.5 GHz.
- Graphics card: As a basic requirement for the pirate game, the developers name an Nvidia GeForce 650 or an AMD Radeon 7750 with 1 GB of VRAM as graphics card. It is particularly important to support DirectX 11.
- Main memory: Your computer should also have at least 4 GB of RAM.
- Hard drive: Sea of Thieves will need around 60 GB of storage space. So that there are no stutters, your HDD should work at least 5, 400 revolutions per minute.
- Operating system: PC players must have Windows 10 installed for Sea of Thieves, as the game must be downloaded from the Microsoft Store.
Sea of Thieves: Recommended system requirements
If you want to play Sea of Thieves with high graphics settings and no stutters in Full HD, you should have at least the following hardware.
- Processor: As a CPU you should use an Intel i5 4690 with 3.5 GHz, an AMD FX-8150 with 3.6 GHz or an even faster model.
- Graphics card: For an optimal gaming experience, a graphics card with 4 GB VRAM and DirectX 11 support such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 or the AMD Radeon R9 380x is recommended.
- RAM: For high graphics settings you should have at least 8 GB of RAM.
60 FPS and 4K: system requirements for high-end gamers
If you want to enjoy Sea of Thieves in all its glory, i.e. in UHD resolution and constant 60 FPS, you can't avoid the latest hardware. The developers make the following recommendations:
- Processor: These graphics settings are not possible without an Intel i7 4790 with 4 GHz or a comparable processor like the AMD Ryzen S 1600 with 3.6 GHz.
- Graphics card: In addition, the developers recommend at least an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti or an AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 with 8 GB VRAM each.
- RAM: 16 GB of RAM is still a minimum for the UHD gaming experience.
- Hard disk: The developers have also corrected their recommended configuration for mass storage devices. For the data volumes in 4K resolution, you must rely on a fast SSD.
Until Sea of Thieves appears, you can pass the time with other multiplayer games - for example with Player's Unknown Battleground. We will show you which system requirements the successful game PUBG has in a separate practical tip.
