Skillfully opening a champagne bottle: how it works
If you only open a bottle of champagne for a special occasion, you may not be able to practice it. In this article, we'll show you how to open a champagne bottle in style.
Open champagne bottle - so you do it right
A note in advance: A champagne bottle should be chilled before opening - only then will the alcoholic beverage really taste good. Furthermore, a champagne bottle should not be exposed to vibrations before opening. Under no circumstances should you shake the drink fresh. After a long drive in the car, you should let the sparkling wine rest a little.
- As a rule, the cork of the champagne bottle is protected by a banderole and a metal wire. First remove both. With an attached tab, the removal of the banderole is usually very easy. If this is not available, cut the sleeve with a sharp knife.
- Under the banderole is a wire frame over the cork. This wire is called "Agraffe" and must be removed.
- Always keep a thumb on the cork as you gently unscrew the wire. This prevents the cork from flying out uncontrollably when the bottle is under high pressure. In this way you avoid or reduce the potential risk of injury to the bystanders.
- Tip: Hold the bottle at an angle. This measure increases the surface of the liquid in the bottle. The small gas bubbles in the sparkling wine thus have more space. This prevents the sparkling wine from bubbling out of the bottle after opening.
- To finally remove the cork, take the bottle in one hand. With the other hold the cork. Do not twist the cork, but the bottle. Do this slowly and carefully.
- As soon as you have unscrewed the cork in this way, you will hear a slight tone - the blop. Then you did everything right.
