Remove mustard stains from clothing - how it works
It is best to remove mustard stains before they dry up. There are several ways to get rid of the yellow stains from textiles.
Remove damp mustard stains
Just on the sausage and already on the new t-shirt - mustard makes unsightly stains. You can get rid of the stain in a few simple steps.
- Remove the excess mustard with a dry cloth.
- Press another clean cloth onto the area to pull the remaining mustard out of the fabric.
- Rub a teaspoon of dish soap or liquid detergent vigorously on the affected area with your fingers.
- Rinse the garment under running water and wash it in the machine in the normal wash cycle.
How to remove dried stains
If the stain has already dried up, proceed as follows:
- First scrape off any dried mustard residue.
- Mix liquid detergent in lukewarm water. Put the clothes in and work the lye into the stain with your fingers or a brush.
- Leave the detergent on the garment for half an hour.
- Rinse textiles with lukewarm water and wash them in the machine.
- If the mustard stain is persistent, repeat the process and use ammonia spirit or benzine instead of the detergent.
