Senseo Viva Cafe: Instructions for descaling
Descaling your Senseo Viva Cafe is necessary to increase the life of your machine and to ensure good coffee quality. We show you how it works.
Descale Senseo Viva Cafe: Here's how
As soon as the LED "CALC" lights up on your Senseo Viva Cafe, you should descale the coffee machine. We give you step-by-step instructions.
- Place a used coffee pad in the holder for two coffee cups and switch on the device.
- Place a large collecting container under the coffee dispenser, this should hold at least one liter. Wait for the indicator light to turn solid red.
- Put a bag of descaler in the water tank and fill the rest with tap water up to the "MAX" mark. The amount recommended by the manufacturer is 50 grams of decalcifying agent per liter of water.
- Press the left and right buttons on the device, descaling starts. Wait until the entire water tank has run dry.
- Empty the waste container and place another used coffee pad in the machine. Fill the tank with descaler and water, now start the descaling again as already described.
- If the second full water tank has also run through, empty the collecting container again and fill the tank with pure water and remove the coffee pad. Press both buttons on the device again to start the rinsing process.
- Repeat the previous step, but first replace the pad holder with a 1-cup pad holder.
- Then rinse both pad holders thoroughly and rinse the tank carefully. You can now use your Senseo Viva Cafe again.
