Senseo: Set the amount of water - how it works
The amount of coffee from a Senseo pad is not exactly generous. If you set the amount of water correctly, you can stretch the coffee a little. We'll show you how it's done.
Older Senseo models: adjust the amount of water
- Especially with the classic Senseo machine, you only get a very small coffee with a pad. If you don't want to stretch it endlessly with milk, you can resort to a second trick.
- Simply press the two-cup icon instead of the one-cup icon. If the coffee is too weak for you, you can simply switch off the machine from the desired amount of water.
Use hidden function
Some machines support the control of the amount of water via a hidden function.
- Unplug the Senseo machine.
- Press the right and left buttons on the machine at the same time. Then, while pressing the buttons, put the plug back in the socket.
- If the power button is now in the middle, your machine has this function. With the button for 1 cup you can reduce the amount of water by 3.5 ml. Use the button for 2 cups to increase the amount of water by 3.5 ml.
- Keep pressing the buttons until you think you have set the correct amount of water. Then simply switch off the machine with the power button in the middle.
- If you want to further modify the amount of water, simply repeat steps 1 to 4.
Newer Senseo models: adjust the amount of water
- Senseo has improved a bit on the newer models. Here you can adjust the amount of water more individually and thus get your desired coffee.
- Depending on the model, you can choose the desired amount of water from three options. You can usually find these at the top of the machine or on the display.
- Then press the start button as usual. The trick from the older models also works here. If you would like to adjust the amount of water even more precisely, you can simply end the process by pressing the start button.
