Remove ShadowTech-Rat Trojans - Here's how
This guide shows you how to remove the ShadowTech-Rat Trojan from your PC.
Remove ShadowTech advice from the PC: exclude false alarm
Little is known about the ShadowTech Council and its various types. First of all: If Detekt finds this Trojan on your PC, first of all look in the program's log file. It is often a false alarm.
- The log file is in the same folder as the executable detect file.
- For example, ATI, the graphics card manufacturer, is often indirectly responsible for the alarm. According to the log file, the ATI Catalyst Control Center's MOM.exe process matches ShadowTech.
- Uninstall the Catalyst Control Center to check for suspected false alarms, and then run the Detect Scan again. You will then no longer find ShadowTech on your PC.
- You can avoid false alarms in a different way. Pay attention to the version number of the detector program. You can find the latest version of the tool on the manufacturer's website.
Detect: Remove ShadowTech advice - a guide
If you really have the ShadowTech Trojan on your computer, you should set up your entire PC again for security reasons, i.e. reinstall Windows.
- When you reach the "Where do you want to install Windows" window in the Windows installation menu, click on "Drive options (advanced)".
- At this point, first delete the partition with your operating system and then reformat it.
- If there are several partitions at this point or even several operating systems are installed, most of the partitions on the hard disk must be deleted.
- Only then is the ShadowTech-RAT Trojan removed from your PC after a new installation of Windows. After reinstallation, run the Detekt program again on your hard drive.
