Shogun 2 does not start - what to do?
If Total War: Shogun 2 does not start, there can be several reasons. We have summarized the most important solutions for you in this article.
Shogun 2 does not start - general information
- First, make sure your PC meets the requirements for Total War: Shogun 2. You need at least a 2 GHz Intel Dual Core processor or a 2.6 GHz Intel Single Core processor or AMD equivalent (with SSE2), 1 GB RAM (XP), 2 GB RAM (Vista or newer), a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card with 256 MB RAM and 32 GB free hard disk space. Your screen resolution must also be 1024 x 768 or higher.
- Install the latest drivers for your graphics card. We explain in separate practical tips how to update an nVidia driver or ATI Radeon graphics card driver.
- Remove any mods you may have installed for the game.
- If you are using 3D glasses on your PC, unplug them from your PC and uninstall the associated drivers.
Shogun 2 - Check game files for errors
You can use the Steam client to check the downloaded game data for errors:
- Open the Steam client. Right-click the "Total War: Shogun 2" entry in the game list and select "Properties".
- Go to the "Local files" tab. There you click on the button "Check game files for errors ...". Wait until the process is complete and any damaged files have been downloaded again. Then try again to start the game.
Shogun 2 - Set up missing system components
For Total War: Shogun 2 to start, DirectX 9 or higher and Visual C ++ must be installed on your system. If these components are missing, you will have to do the installation. To do this, run these files one after the other, which you will find in the game directory. Then restart your computer:
