Set shortcuts for mouse buttons - Instructions
In this example we create a shortcut for Windows Media Player. You can also use any other program.
- At X-Mouse Button Control, switch to the "Layer 2" tab and click on the "Add" button at the bottom left.
- Now select the desired program from the list and click "OK". Since very few programs are recognized directly, most of them have to be inserted manually.
- Click on the "Specific Windows" button below and start Windows Media Player.
- Switch back to the tool and activate the "Hover" option. If you click on the player, the required information is inserted into the tool.
- Move the mouse back to the tool and enter the name of the program in the "Description" field. Attention: Move the mouse directly back from the media player to the tool and do not click / mark any other area.
- The program is saved in the tool using the "OK" button. Then close the media player again.
- Now you can select the commands for the individual buttons on the right of the window. Click on a button, the mouse wheel or roll the wheel up or down to highlight the corresponding fields.
- In this example we choose the right mouse button, ie the "Right Button" and the command "Media - Next Track".
- Click on the "Settings" button at the bottom left and switch to the "Modifier Keys" tab at the top.
- Activate the "Enable modifier keys" option and select a key combination next to "Activate Layer 2". The shortcut can then be used via this.
- We select the [Ctrl] key here. The settings are saved with the "OK" button. Finally you have to click on the "Apply" button at the bottom right.
- If we start Windows Media Player, hold the [Ctrl] key and click with the right mouse button, the next song will be played.
We will show you how to create your own keyboard shortcuts in Windows in the next practical tip.
