If you want to shutdown your computer using the command prompt (cmd), you need the correct shutdown commands. In this practical tip, we will show you which commands are available.
Windows: commands for shutdown via cmd
For a shutdown command, you can start the command prompt in normal mode. If you start the command prompt as an administrator, it works as well.
- shutdown: The PC is shut down immediately.
- shutdown –s –t 60: The PC is shut down in 60 seconds.
- shutdown –r: The PC is restarted.
- shutdown –a: The shutdown is canceled.
- shutdown –i: The remote PC is shut down.
- shutdown –s: The local PC is shut down.
- shutdown –l: The current user is logged out.
- shutdown –f: Running applications are forced to close.
