You need the security code, for example, if you want to shop online with your credit card. This practical tip tells you where to find the code on Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Find security code on Visa and MasterCard

The three-digit security code is on the back of your "Visa" or "MasterCard". It is located in a specially provided field - either next to (see screenshot) or under the card number.

Find security code on American Express

If you are using an American Express, the four-digit security code is located directly above the credit card number on the front.
