If you do not want to do without the mobile Internet during your Thailand vacation, you can get a SIM card for a few euros. We'll show you what to look out for.
Buy SIM card in Thailand: this is important
You should not use a German SIM card in Thailand. The roaming prices are so high that you could get rid of a small fortune in just a few minutes.
- You will receive a Thai SIM card directly at the airport after the passport control. The offers are aimed directly at tourists.
- Alternatively, you can strike later in the city. In addition to official and free mobile phone shops, you can also get the SIM cards from large supermarkets such as 7Eleven and Family Mart.
- The SIM cards are inserted, activated and set up directly by the seller. You do not have to worry about anything else and can surf the Thai network directly.
- The prices are very cheap compared to Germany. Depending on the tariff, you get 8 GB for 15 days at the price of 599 Baht or 3 GB for 8 days at the price of 299 Baht. Calls usually cost 1 baht per minute, to Europe you pay 5 baht. With very low tariffs you can surf the net for an unlimited month for 499 baht.
- 100 baht is equivalent to around 2.70 euros.
- The network coverage is generally solid with all providers. If you are traveling in a somewhat more remote region for a long time, it may be worth checking the network coverage in advance.
