The error message "SIM card registration failed" means that you can no longer make calls or surf on your mobile phone. There are various possible causes for the problem - unfortunately there is no guarantee that there will be a solution other than buying a new SIM card.
Failure of SIM card registration on mobile phone
If you see the message on your cell phone that your SIM card could not be registered or that the SIM card number and MSISDN do not match, you cannot use any services. The problem can be caused by one of the following:
- If you have not used your mobile phone for more than 1 year (no calls, SMS, no credit), it can happen that it is blocked. Call your provider to see if the SIM card can be reactivated.
- You forgot to pay an invoice or your contract has expired - the SIM card will then be deactivated by your provider.
- The SIM card is out of date and not compatible with your phone.
- The SIM card is defective and must be replaced.
Last hope: this may help you solve the problem
Sometimes little tricks are enough for SIM card errors. If the card has not been deactivated by your provider, try the following:
- Turn off your cell phone.
- Remove the SIM card.
- Carefully dab the SIM card and contacts with a lint-free, dry cloth.
- Reinsert the SIM card and switch your cell phone on again.
- If you still have the error message, your cell phone or SIM card is defective.
- If you have the opportunity, test your SIM card in a friend's cell phone and test another SIM in your cell phone. This is how you find out which of the two is defective.
