Sims 3: change language - how it works
You set the language when you install Sims 3. However, you can change your selection later if you have chosen the wrong language here. We show you exactly how this works in this practical tip.
Change language in Sims 3
You cannot change the game language in Sims 3 yourself. Instead, go to the Windows registry:
- Press the key combination [Windows] and [R].
- Then enter "regedit" in the text field and confirm with "Ok".
- Once in the registry editor, double-click the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" entry.
- Then select "SOFTWARE".
- Now look for the folder "SIMS" and finally "SIMS 3".
- Double click on the "Locale" file and enter "de-DE" (without quotation marks) for German (see picture). Confirm with OK".
- Finally, add the value "de-DE" (without quotes) for German in the "Country" file.
- If you want to play Sims 3 in English, enter "en-EN" as the value in the 5th and 6th point. For Spanish "es-ES" and for French "fr-FR".
- In addition, Sims 3 can be played in the following languages: Finnish, Greek, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Czech and Hungarian. The corresponding country abbreviations can be found on an overview in Wikipedia.
