Enter dimensions in Google SketchUp
Not only do-it-yourselfers can create great models with the free design software SketchUp. In order for the modeling to be realistic, it makes sense to work with dimensions.
- So that you can enter the dimensions in SketchUp, you must first activate the corresponding option yourself. For some unknown reason, Google did not activate this option by default during installation.
- First go to "View" in the menu bar of the program and then click on the "Toolbars" in the pull-down menu.
- Then look for the "Dimensions" option on the "Toolbars" tab and activate it.
- The dimensions are now displayed in the lower left corner.
- If you want to enter the dimensions in the future, do not do this by entering the numbers in the area below. Instead, click on the appropriate shape and then enter the appropriate dimensions.
- You can also select a shape and then click where you want the shape to appear. Then enter the dimensions for the corresponding shape.
- Place a semicolon after each unit of measurement and end the entry by pressing the Enter key.
Of course, you do not have to create all models yourself, you can make your work much easier with the numerous templates for Google SketchUp.
