Sky: EPG update takes forever - you can do that
If Sky's EPG update takes forever, Sky's server may be overloaded right now. You can find more approaches to solving this problem here in this practical tip.
EPG update at Sky takes forever - what to do?
To ensure that you always have all the station information, you have to update the EPG. Here's what you can do if it takes a long time:
- Start the EPG update and wait at least five minutes.
- If nothing happens during this time, disconnect the receiver from the power supply and wait another five to ten minutes.
- Then reconnect it to the power supply and carry out an EPG update again via the menu.
- If this also hangs, you should make sure that the hard disk has enough free space.
- If this is not the case, you should delete recordings from the hard disk in order to save space.
- You can also try resetting the Sky Receiver.
- If you still cannot carry out the EPG update afterwards, there may be a major defect on the receiver.
