Watch Sky Go on Chromecast - Here's how
You can also watch Sky Go through Chromecast, but only with one trick. Because officially the required Silverlight plugin is not supported. We'll tell you how you can still stream Sky Go.
Update: Sky Go is no longer compatible with Chromecast
At the end of 2018, Sky released new apps and PC applications for Sky Go. It is no longer possible to stream Sky Go on other devices such as the Chromecast.
- The reason for the relaunch is relatively simple. Like many other streaming providers, Sky wants to determine exactly on which devices customers see the content.
- So far, access to Sky Go via the browser was extremely practical, but it also created many gaps that also allowed streaming on the Fire TV, Apple TV and Chromecast.
- That is the end for now. The new Sky Go app no longer has the button for streaming via Chromecast in the Android version. In the Sky Ticket App, this is currently still possible in isolated cases.
Watch Sky Go on Chromecast - you need to know
Sky Go is particularly useful when you want to watch your Sky content on the go.
- Unfortunately, it's currently not possible to watch Sky Go on Chromecast. Only one trick helps here.
- Google itself points out that Silverlight content is not supported. This technology also uses Sky Go.
Chromecast: Sky Go only works in a roundabout way
- Download and install the Google Cast for Chrome extension for the Google Chrome browser.
- If you click on the Chromecast icon in the top right of the browser, you can transfer the content in the browser to the Chromecast.
- Now you have to do a little trick. Sky Go does not work in full screen mode. The sound may also stutter during playback.
- Hold down the [Ctrl] key on the bottom left of the keyboard and press the wheel on your mouse. This allows you to display the image as large as possible without using the full screen mode.
