Install Sky Q - Here's how
If you have received a new receiver with Sky Q or would like to use Sky Q on the old receiver, you must install and set up the system. We'll show you how it's done.
Install Sky Q via update on old receiver
Sky Q brings many new functions with it. Since May 2018, the first devices have been gradually upgraded to Sky Q. Only in August will all Sky customers switch to Sky Q.
- The update will be installed any day of the night. If you no longer want to wait for the update, you can simply force it. However, this has disadvantages.
- After the forced update, Sky on Demand and the Sky Store no longer work. Contact Sky customer service to unlock the features again. It can take a few hours.
- There is a small reset button on the back of the sky receiver. If you keep the button pressed for 5 seconds, the receiver restarts. You will be offered an update to Sky Q, which you can now simply select.
Install Sky Q on a new Sky receiver
If you have received a new receiver from Sky, Sky Q is now preinstalled. Before using it properly, however, you must properly connect and set up the device.
- Place the Sky Q Receiver in the desired location and connect the device to the power.
- Connect the satellite cable and connect the receiver to the TV using an HDMI cable.
- If you select the correct HDMI input on the television, the user interface is displayed.
- You can connect a LAN cable to access the Internet or set up the WLAN later.
- To access Sky offers, you still need to insert the smart card into the receiver. The arrow on the smart card points into the opening, the chip must point down.
- To operate the receiver, you still need the enclosed remote control. First insert the batteries there.
- You will now be guided through the setup of the receiver. All functions are explained to you step by step, which you can also adapt directly to your needs.
